"How To" Play Haunted Musical Chairs

"How To"  Play Haunted Musical Chairs…only if you dare…

It’s time to enjoy another tried and true birthday party game, with a Halloween theme: Haunted Musical Chairs! This is a simple game that can be enjoyed by Halloween Party Guests of any age. All you need are chairs, some Halloween music, and a little bit of “witchcraft”!
Here’s how to play:
Printer Friendly Version
1. Set up a row of chairs, one chair for every guest (which is just a little different from the original game of musical chairs). Arrange the chairs so that the seats of the chair face in alternate directions. That is, the seat of the first chair faces one wall, the seat of the chair right next to it faces the opposite wall, and so on.
2. “Bewitch” the chair on one end of the row by covering it with a “shroud” (a white sheet), and draping cobwebs on it (you can buy cobweb stuff at your local dollar store or anyplace that sells Halloween decorations). Stick on some Halloween stickers or pin on a couple of black bats---anything to make the chair “haunted.”
3. Have some Halloween music. You can usually find CDs of Halloween “spooky” music at stores that sell Halloween decorations or even your local discount stores.
4.  Have the guests form a circle around the chairs. Start the music. Everyone should walk around the chairs while the music is playing.
5. Stop the music. Everyone has to sit down in the chair he or she is closest to. The person who has to sit in the Haunted Chair is out of the game.
6. Remove one plain chair (not the Haunted Chair). Have everyone form a circle around the chairs and start the music. Everyone walks around the chairs until the music stops again. The person who has to sit in the Haunted Chair is out of the game.
7. Continue playing until there is only one guest left. That person wins the game!
8. You can play this game lots of times, so that more people get a chance to win.
Have some fun! Have everyone “walk like a monster” or make everyone walk like the Mummy, dragging one foot. Make them cackle like witches on one turn around the chairs. Next, make them “boo” like ghosts, or howl like wolves.
This is a simple and easy game, and one that will make Trick-or-Treaters, young and old, laugh and have fun!
