Spooky Bowling – Two ways to play: Game A & Game B
Game A: Spooky Bowling!
What you need:
1) Halloween-Printable Halloween Spooky Bowling Score Sheets
2) Ten plastic quart-sized milk jars*
3) Small plastic or foam ball (kid’s toy ball or softball will work)
* Ask friends and neighbors to save bottles for you!
As alternatives to quart-sized milk jars, you can use anything that is tall enough to “fall over” when knocked down by the ball. Baby bottles (cheap ones you can get at the dollar store) are easy to use (when you screw on the lid, put the nipple upside down). You can also use tall plastic cups that have a lid, like those you get at 7-11 or other convenience stores when you buy a fountain beverage. Otherwise, be creative and “think outside the box” to create bowling pins.
Ahead of Time Set-Up
Peel the plastic film wrapper from the quart milk jars. Wash the jars inside and out. Let air dry. When dry, half fill with clean sand, pebbles, or rice to give the bottles some weight. Screw cap on tightly.
Optional: Decorate the outside of the plastic jars with Halloween stickers!
Playing the Game
1. Set up the ten plastic jars as bowling pins in the normal arrangement (the back row is four pins, the next row is three, then two pins, and the front row is one pin). Allow some space between the pins, but make sure that the pins are close enough to each other so that the pins that fall down will hit other pins.
2. Each guest gets one roll of the bowling ball to try to knock down all 10 bottles.
3. Write each guest’s score on the Spooky Bowling Score Sheet.
4. Play a traditional 10 “frames,” or roll the ball as many times as you like (depending on the number of guests and the length of time allowed to play the game).
5. The guest with the highest score wins.
Game B: Play Wii Bowling
